Located just off of Highway 59, Kingwood is only 23 minutes north of downtown Houston and only nine minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport. It is just a short drive down the street, on the Beltway or around the 610 Loop to many world-class venues for shopping, dining and entertainment.
With development beginning in the early 1970’s, Kingwood has grown into a flourishing metropolis. Annexed in 1996 by the city of Houston, Kingwood is now served by Houston’s public works, police and fire departments. Home to the Kingwood Country Club, the community offers some of the nation’s finest golf. Kingwood is split between two counties, Harris and Montgomery. The Harris county section is served by the Humble Independent School District. The high schools serving the area include Kingwood High School and Kingwood Park High School with the option to attend Quest High School, a magnet school in Atascocita. The Montgomery County section of Kingwood is served by the New Caney Independent School District. Kingwood is also served by three Humble Independent School District middle schools, Kingwood Middle School, Creekwood Middle School and Riverwood Middle School. In addition, Kingwood is served by nine Humble ISD elementary schools.
Residents of Kingwood enjoy a number of community events throughout the year including Mardi Gras in February, Picnic on the Park the day before Easter, several Auto Shows in the Spring and Fall, a 4th of July parade and fireworks show and Christmas in the Park in December.
